Please read these terms carefully before placing an order.

Last updated: 9 August 2026

1. About these Terms

These Terms and Conditions apply to quotations, orders, lay-by agreements, payments, manufacturing, delivery and installation services supplied by Ollie’s Tombstones.

By accepting a quotation, approving a design, making a payment or placing an order, the customer confirms that they have read and accepted these Terms and Conditions.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to remove or limit any rights granted to a customer under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or any other applicable South African law.

3. Quotations and Orders

3.1. All quotations are valid for the period stated on the quotation.

3.2. A quotation only includes the products and services specifically listed on it.

3.3. Foundations, slabs, photographs, vases, lettering, delivery, assembly and other extras are not included unless they are specifically listed on the quotation.

3.4. An order is only confirmed once:

  • the customer has accepted the quotation;
  • all required customer information has been received;
  • the design and inscription have been approved where applicable; and
  • the required deposit or full payment has cleared in Ollie’s Tombstones’ bank account.

3.5. Any changes requested after approval may result in additional charges and delays.

4. Designs, Photographs and Personalised Orders

4.1. Tombstones are generally manufactured according to the customer’s selected design and supplied information. They are therefore personalised or special-order products.

4.2. Catalogue, flyer and website photographs are provided for illustration purposes. A photograph does not automatically mean that every item shown is included in the advertised price.

4.3. Customers must confirm with the sales representative whether the quoted price includes items such as:

  • a full or half slab;
  • foundation work;
  • marble pots or vases;
  • photographs;
  • crosses;
  • kerbing;
  • lettering; and
  • any other accessories.

4.4. Custom designs not shown in the catalogue may be considered if the customer provides clear photographs, measurements and specifications. A separate quotation will be supplied.

4.5. Natural stone may contain slight differences in colour, shade, grain and pattern. These natural variations are not necessarily defects.

5. Names, Dates, Spelling and Design Approval

5.1. The customer is responsible for supplying the correct:

  • name and surname of the deceased;
  • dates of birth and death;
  • spelling, punctuation and wording;
  • language and scripture references;
  • photograph; and
  • grave and cemetery details.

5.2. The customer must carefully check the customer copy, design proof or order form before approving it.

5.3. Ollie’s Tombstones will manufacture the product according to the final information approved by the customer.

5.4. Corrections requested after written approval may be charged to the customer if Ollie’s Tombstones has already started manufacturing or engraving.

5.5. Ollie’s Tombstones remains responsible for correcting mistakes made by its own staff where the finished product does not match the customer’s final approved design.

6. Customer Responsibilities

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the customer must complete the following within the first two weeks after placing the order:

  • provide and approve all wording, names, dates and photographs;
  • provide accurate grave and cemetery details;
  • prepare the grave area by removing bushes, bricks, loose stones and other obstructions;
  • obtain any required cemetery, municipal, landowner or traditional authority permission;
  • pay any cemetery or third-party fees; and
  • advise Ollie’s Tombstones about difficult roads, restricted access or unusual site conditions.

Failure to provide the required information or site access may delay manufacturing, delivery or installation.

7. Prices and Additional Items

All prices are subject to confirmation in the customer’s written quotation.

Unless the quotation states otherwise, the following advertised additional-item prices apply:

  • Standard foundation, approximately 2.4 m × 1.2 m, including three lintels, reinforcement and concrete: R4,500
  • Full slab: R3,300
  • Half slab: R2,200
  • Marble pot: R850
  • Colour photograph: R500
  • Engraved photograph: R2,000
  • Additional lintel: R440

Prices may be updated from time to time. However, the price on an accepted written quotation will apply to that order unless the customer subsequently requests changes.

8. Payments

8.1. No cash payments are accepted at Ollie’s Tombstones stores or by drivers, installation crews or other staff members.

8.2. Cash must be deposited into an official Ollie’s Tombstones bank account.

8.3. Customers must use their order number as the payment reference.

8.4. Customers should verify the banking details directly with Ollie’s Tombstones before making payment. Ollie’s Tombstones will not notify customers of changed banking details through an unexpected message without additional verification.

8.5. Proof of payment must be presented to the store. Proof of payment does not by itself confirm that funds have cleared.

8.6. An official Ollie’s Tombstones receipt must be issued for every payment. Customers should retain all receipts and proof of payment.

8.7. No payment may be made directly to a driver or installation crew.

8.8. Manufacturing, delivery and installation may be placed on hold until the required payment has cleared.

9. Lay-By Agreements

9.1. Lay-by agreements of between one and six months will be calculated at the applicable cash price stated in the written agreement.

9.2. For lay-by agreements running for between seven and twelve months, the total agreed price will be 15% above the applicable cash price. The complete financial obligation must be disclosed to the customer before the agreement is accepted.

9.3. No lay-by agreement may exceed twelve months.

9.4. Promotional prices apply only in accordance with the dates and conditions of that promotion. A future promotion will not automatically change the price of an existing lay-by.

9.5. A customer may cancel a lay-by before completing payment.

9.6. Following cancellation, Ollie’s Tombstones will refund the amounts paid by the customer, less a reasonable cancellation fee permitted by law. This fee will not exceed 1% of the full purchase price.

9.7. No cancellation fee will be charged where the customer’s failure to complete payment resulted from the customer’s death or hospitalisation.

9.8. On request, Ollie’s Tombstones will provide written details showing how any cancellation fee was calculated.

9.9. Instead of receiving a refund, the customer may voluntarily agree in writing to use the amount paid towards other goods. Collection from the Groblersdal workshop will be at the customer’s expense unless otherwise agreed.

9.10. If the customer does not complete payment within 60 business days after the agreed completion date, Ollie’s Tombstones may terminate the lay-by and refund the amount paid, less any lawful cancellation fee.

9.11. If Ollie’s Tombstones cannot supply the selected goods after full payment, the customer will receive the remedies provided under section 62 of the Consumer Protection Act.

10. Manufacturing and Delivery Time

10.1. Standard manufacturing and delivery generally take approximately four to six weeks after:

  • full cleared payment has been received;
  • the final design has been approved;
  • all required information has been supplied; and
  • the site is ready and accessible.

10.2. The four-to-six-week period does not start from the date of the first payment.

10.3. Delivery dates are estimates unless a specific date has been confirmed in writing.

10.4. Weather, cemetery restrictions, unsafe road conditions, material availability, strikes and other circumstances outside reasonable control may cause delays. Customers will be informed of significant delays.

10.5. Urgent delivery requested within two weeks is subject to availability and written approval. An urgent-delivery fee of R3,000 may apply, as confirmed in the quotation.

11. Delivery and Assembly Charges

The following delivery and assembly charges apply from 6 May 2026, subject to confirmation in the customer’s quotation:

Distances are calculated from the Ollie’s Tombstones office servicing the order.

Orders requiring delivery beyond 200 km, difficult access, special vehicles or additional labour will be quoted separately.

Delivery charges may be reviewed in response to fuel-price changes. Any applicable charge will be disclosed before the order is confirmed.

12. Delivery Access and Failed Deliveries

12.1. The customer must provide an accurate delivery location, contact number and safe road access.

12.2. Delivery cannot be completed where there is no reasonable or safe road access.

12.3. If a delivery vehicle can reach the customer’s village but cannot reach the grave, the customer must arrange a safe alternative delivery point.

12.4. A tombstone will only be left at an alternative location with the customer’s or authorised representative’s agreement.

12.5. If the team cannot complete delivery because the customer supplied incorrect information, failed to prepare the site or failed to provide access, a reasonable return or redelivery charge may apply.

12.6. Where disclosed and agreed before delivery, a return-transport charge of up to R1,500 may apply.

12.7. The customer or an authorised representative must be available at the agreed time.

12.8. If the customer or representative is not present, the driver may wait for up to 20 minutes before proceeding to the next delivery.

13. Installation and Site Conditions

13.1. Installation is subject to suitable ground, safe access and permission to work at the grave.

13.2. Ollie’s Tombstones is not responsible for delays caused by cemetery closures, burial activities, severe weather, flooding, unsafe conditions or denied access.

13.3. If unexpected ground or structural conditions require additional materials or work, the customer will be informed and must approve any additional charge before the work continues.

13.4. The customer should not move, alter or interfere with a newly installed tombstone while foundations or adhesives are curing.

14. Cancellations and Returns

14.1. Because tombstones are generally manufactured and personalised according to the customer’s specifications, a completed, correctly manufactured product cannot ordinarily be returned merely because the customer has changed their mind.

14.2. This does not remove the customer’s rights where:

  • the product does not match the approved order;
  • the goods are defective or unsafe;
  • the installation service was not performed to a reasonable standard; or
  • a refund, repair or replacement is required by law.

14.3. A request to cancel a special order after manufacturing has started will be considered in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act and the work and materials already committed to the order.

15. Quality and Complaints

15.1. Customers should inspect the tombstone and installation as soon as reasonably possible.

15.2. Any incorrect wording, visible damage, missing item or installation concern should be reported promptly with the order number and clear photographs.

15.3. Ollie’s Tombstones will investigate the complaint and, where required by law, repair, replace, correct or refund the affected product or service.

15.4. Ollie’s Tombstones does not exclude its obligations relating to good-quality goods, reasonable service or the statutory warranty provided under South African consumer law.

16. Personal Information

Ollie’s Tombstones may collect and use customer information, information about the deceased, photographs and delivery details for the purposes of:

  • preparing quotations and designs;
  • manufacturing the tombstone;
  • processing payments;
  • contacting the customer;
  • arranging delivery and installation;
  • maintaining transaction records; and
  • complying with legal obligations.

Personal information will be handled in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 and the Ollie’s Tombstones Privacy Policy.

17. Website Information

17.1. Ollie’s Tombstones takes reasonable care to ensure that website information is accurate.

17.2. Product photographs, colours and designs may display differently depending on the customer’s screen and may vary slightly from the finished natural stone product.

17.3. Website prices and promotions are subject to the dates, availability and conditions displayed with the offer.

17.4. A website enquiry does not constitute a confirmed order. The customer will receive a written quotation or order confirmation.

18. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

If any provision conflicts with the Consumer Protection Act, Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, Protection of Personal Information Act or another applicable law, the applicable legislation will take priority.
